ENTERTAINMENT The Music of Black Origin (MOBO) awards has drawn up shortlists of agencies to provide events and corporate PR for this September’s event, overseen by marketing and comms manager Kubi Stringer. Amazing PR, which handled last year’s awards ceremony, has declined to repitch.

CONSUMER 1990s pop group East 17 are using The Outside Organisation to target music press such as the NME ahead of a one-off gig on 30 May. They want to differentiate themselves as the credible alternative to fellow comeback band Take That.

AGENCY Four Sports Marketing & Sponsorship has hired Charlie Spencer as an account director. He was previously employed by Freud Communications and Hill & Knowlton, where he worked with Four Sports MD Alun James and associate Neil Hopkins.

CORPORATE CSR consultancy Africapractice has appointed former Diageo Africa chairman David Hampshire as a director. Hampshire has served as board member for East African Breweries, Guinness Nigeria and Guinness Ghana Breweries.

AGENCY Howard Thomas, former CEO of Premier Rugby, has joined Glasshouse Partnership as a non-executive director. Thomas will promote the agency’s sports services offering.

CONSUMER Grundfos, a Danish manufacturer of central heating pumps, has enlisted Pleon to spread its energy efficiency message, and increase consumer awareness of the brand, in  seven countries.
