Pharma critic set for London event

Big Pharma critic Jacky Law – author of the book Big Pharma: How the world’s biggest drug companies market illness – is to speak at an evening event in London next week.

The meeting will interest pharma PROs, regularly attacked for so-called 'disease-mongering' – the practice of hyping diseases to help drugs firms boost profits.

The event, billed 'Big Pharma: Corporate Wealth versus Public Health', is being convened by Friends of Le Monde Diplomatique UK, which organises fortnightly forums for 'exploring issues in the context of the global anti neo-conservative-liberal tradition'.

The 15 May event will be staged at 'Cafe Diplo', The Gallery, 77 Cowcross Street in Farringdon. It kicks off at 6.45pm and costs £3.
