Smeeth start-up bags Barnet NHS trust job

Michael Smeeth, who left Fleishman-Hillard’s UK healthcare arm after just six months last autumn, has re-emerged with his own agency.

The ex-Good Relations Healthcare MD's venture – iCommunicate Consulting – has landed Barnet & Chase Farm Hospitals NHS Trust as its first client.

The account heralds a return to NHS-focused work for Smeeth, who before Good Relations was Brent Primary Care NHS Trust comms director.

He is working for Barnet & Chase on an initial six-month contract, advising on 'stakeholder engagement and community consultation'.
Smeeth is managing two PROs at Barnet & Chase, where former acting comms director Alison Macdonald has become board secretary.

His agency will compete for corporate, PA and 'issues-based' health work in the public and private sectors.

Smeeth was UK healthcare managing director at F-H, but left after half a year (PRWeek, 14 October).
