'We will be looking at certain regions and industries where large numbers of employees would benefit from the NVQs recently introduced,' she said.
The new courses cover the customer service, business improvement, IT and health and social care sectors.
The agency beat off competition from Trimedia Communications and GCI to take the one-year brief, which is being handled by its Leeds office.
Learndirect is handled by Ufi – formerly known as University for Industry. It was set up in 1998 to boost businesses' productivity and competitiveness. HC's fees for the brief are undisclosed.
