Wates briefs Media Strategy to win housing kudos

Construction company Wates has appointed Media Strategy to position it as a ‘thought leader’ on sustainable development and affordable housing.

It is aiming to increase its influence with the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

The construction industry is facing crucial issues around the recycling of waste. It also needs to respond to the challenge of devising more innovative designs to deliver affordable homes, in line with the ODPM's ambitious housebuilding programme for the South-East.

Wates strategy and marketing director John Wates said: 'We want to build and clarify Wates' profile, confirming the company as a progressive force in the construction industry.'

Founded in 1897, it is wholly owned by the third and fourth generations of the Wates family.

Media Strategy secured the brief after a competitive pitch. The account is project-managed by Enda Joyce, with support from Robert Sullivan on policy.
