Disability charity nets comms chief

I Can, a charity which provides therapy and education for disabled children, has installed Anita Kerwin-Nye as its first director of comms.

Joining from marketing agency NotDeadFish, Kerwin-Nye will oversee promotion of a programme to support the communication development of pre-school children. She heads a team of eight, targeting policy makers and parents.

This year I Can is set to benefit from being nominated as bank HBOS's employee charity of choice. It hopes to raise £1m from the link-up with the bank.

Kerwin-Nye reports to I Can chief executive Virginia Beardshaw. Previously the role was incorporated within I Can's fundraising division.

Prior to NotDeadFish, Kerwin-Nye spent nine years at the British Red Cross, ascending to head of first aid and education roles.
