Hit or miss ... Embrace win World Cup

Rock group Embrace found the perfect way to promote their new album - get signed up to do the official World Cup song. EMI Music Publishing promotions manager Melanie Johnson said the band's anthemic stadium sound fitted the brief perfectly. The Guardian asked whether the group's 'triumphant comeback' would inspire the team, while The Times hoped World At Your Feet would be more along the lines of New Order's World in Motion than The Spice Girls' 'disastrous' On Top Of The World.
