Letter: ... and the candidate's role becomes crucial

Further to your articles on PR recruiters, I feel that candidates must be more aware of ethical formalities when dealing with recruitment firms and take responsibility for making sure their details are handled in the proper way.

Unfortunately, some consultants have no regard for compatibility and frequently disregard the confidentiality of candidates' details.

CVs should never be sent without consent. Candidates registering with more than one recruiter should know where their CV is going and who is sending it, bearing in mind that a CV appearing twice on a future employer's desk doesn't improve their chances.
