Over 80 countries will compete in the contest, launched by the Miss World Organisation this year, which is to be broadcast in up to 100 countries.
Contestants will undergo three weeks of endurance tests, such as climbing the Great Wall of China and facing an elephant in a tug-of-war. In the final contestants will model fashionwear and sportswear.
Although Mr Worlds have been crowned before in pilot versions of the ceremony, this will be the first time the competition has been staged on a grand scale.
MAC won Miss World's global PR account last year (PRWeek, 9 Sept 2005).
