PRWeek brings down the house at bingo

Never one to eschew the opportunity to make a fast buck, Diary marched down to Wandsworth last week to chance its arm at bingo.

Excitement at PRWeek towers had been mounting ever since a gadget magazine hack scooped the national game prize of £53,000 only weeks ago.

Our kind invitation to try to follow suit came from DSA, the PR agency for the National Bingo Game Association. Professionally equipped with 'dabbers' for marking numbers and supported by DSA associate director Ann Cunnane, it seemed only a matter of time before dreams were fulfilled.

Three games in, one of our newshounds could hardly contain his excitement when all his numbers came up on one line, scooping him a tenner, no less.

Alas, none of the rest of the seven-strong Diary team scooped any prizes.

Said newshound was next spotted dancing across the road to the adjacent curry house, Spice Eruption, singing 'When it rains, it rains pennies from heaven...'

Emotional stuff.
