Poll shows lack of agency contracts
More than a third of clients do not have a valid contract with their PR agencies, exposing them to significant legal and commercial risk, according to a survey.
Tom Wells, managing partner at PR management consultancy Gyroscope, which compiled the study, said: 'There is often no current or effective legal basis to clients' dealings with agencies.'
He warned: 'When disputes arise, or either party seeks to terminate the relationship, huge and expensive difficulties can result.'
Gyroscope, which said it was typical for neither party to prioritise the signing of a legal document, surveyed 73 client organisations, including FTSE 100 firms.
