Agency experience under the hammer

Many PROs have undertaken unpaid work experience to get a foothold in the industry. But few have paid a four-figure sum for the privilege.

But the parents of two young hopefuls did just that at last month's gala dinner in aid of charity Kids.

One of the lots auctioned on the night was a week's work experience with designer Julien MacDonald, handbag guru Lulu Guinness and luxury fashion PR agency M&M Management.

Anne-Dauphine de Grivel and husband Olivier stumped up £7,000 for fashion student daughter Cleme to take the prize. And when a late anonymous bidder matched it, organisers agreed to duplicate the experience.

M&M Management's operations director Charlotte Johnson says the PRO wannabes would be offered a three-month stint. Unpaid, naturally.
