AGENCY Modus Publicity joint-MD Julian Vogel declined to comment this week on speculation that fashion specialist Modus is in merger talks with beauty shop Dowal Walker. He would only say: 'We are always interested in new opportunities'.

CONSUMER Gambling brand has brought in Resonate to promote a women-only poker contest badged 'The Search for the Queen of Diamonds'. The firm is yet to appoint a permanent replacement for Frank PR (PRWeek, 6 January).

CORPORATE Blackwell Publishing is using Manchester-based Fido PR to promote it as the first global publisher with 'carbon neutral' status. Four months ago Fido declared itself the first carbon neutral PR agency outside London (PRWeek, 24 Nov 2005).

CONSUMER The Outside Organisation is promoting Hyde Park Calling, the music festival scheduled for 1-2 July in London's Hyde Park. The festival is being produced by Live Nation and sponsored by the Hard Rock Café.

CONSUMER David Bitton, the designer behind Buffalo jeans, has brought in Frank PR to run a high-end UK fashion campaign. Its collection was launched in the UK 18 months ago and was formerly promoted by Resonate.
