Trimedia snaps up Directgov account

The Cabinet Office’s e-government unit has brought in Trimedia Communications to encourage more people to access government services online.

The brief, won after a pitch (PRWeek, 20 January), will aim to persuade people to visit the site for information and to carry out tasks such as renewing car tax and locating training courses and jobs. Users can also log on to claim benefits, register to vote and research their family history.

The Directgov portal was launched in April 2004, pooling information from all government departments with the exception of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

'We exist to make it easier to navigate public services online,' said Directgov strategy and marketing director Alex Butler.

'We are promoting the concept of super-sites, from which people can manage their lives. We are positioning Directgov as one of those sites,' said Trimedia account director Emma Thompson.
