The move is part of a push to bolster relations with the press and strengthen Honda's 1% market share in Spain, a Honda spokesman confirmed.
Yudes will be part of a 10-strong comms team reporting to communications director Jesus Solergiver. He will be helped by Ana Boss, who previously handled media relations and will now share those duties alongside other project.
Yudes, formerly Honda's marketing director, will work to boost Honda's media profile to help the car maker shine in a market crowded with Asian imports.
The spokesman would not say whether Honda is looking to name a new marketing boss.
So far, Honda's sales have been rising in Spain, Europe's fifth-largest car market. The company posted a 12% sales increase to 17,000 units last year, boosted by the introduction of several diesel-car
models and increased marketing efforts.
The company has spent heavily to promote its key selling UK-built Civic hatchback and the Jazz mini, which featured an ad campaign with Spanish actress Penelope Cruz last year.
