Kumar switches from client side to join Concept PR

Concept Public Relations has appointed B.N Kumar as president. Based in Mumbai, he will drive Concept's business development and PR strategy and oversee the agency's entire portfolio of accounts, according to managing director Vivek Suchanti.

Based in Mumbai, Kumar will work in conjunction with Suchanti in the new role.  Senior vice-presidents Purvi Shah, Suresh Shah, Chris Almeida and David Franklin will all report in to Kumar.  The post was created to keep pace with expanding operations in Delhi and Mumbai, according to Suchanti.

Kumar comes from telecoms major Reliance Infocomm, where he was an 'L-2 manager' (vice-president).  During the mid-eighties he was a founder member of Ogilvy PR, and has also worked with Capital Images, Beehive Communciations and the Reliance Group.

Kumar said that although Concept was largely perceived as a financial agency 'IPO clients help us to get a foothold.  But we look at turning these clients into long-term corporate accounts.  Specifically, we will focus on areas of infrastructure, such as airport modernisation, aviation, construction, logistics, IT and telecoms.'

He admitted that the agency had recently won US$1 million in accounts, but refused to divulge further information at this stage.

Existing clients include Birla Sun Life Insurance Company Ltd, Birla Mutual Fund, All Cargo Logistics and Cbay Systems Unity Constructions.
