Sustain fills Kids’ Food Bill vacancy

The alliance for better food and farming, Sustain, has bolstered its campaign team for a focused attack on school catering.

Richard Watts joins from The Campaign Company, where he was director of political comms, to become co-ordinator of the Children's Food Bill campaign.

Sustain plans to turn up the heat on the food and drink industry by increasing the intensity of its campaigning over school meals.

The aim is to improve the overall standard of food in schools and protect children from aggressive junk food advertising.

The organisation will use regional supporters to target individual schools.

Sustain comprises 161 national food and farming organisations. Watts reports to Sustain co-ordinator Jeanette Longfield.

He replaces Charlie Powell, who has joined Oxfam as a fair trade campaigner.
