Barclays in talks over review of PA

Barclays has held ‘informal discussions’ with public affairs agencies as it mulls over changes to its external lobbying support.

News of the talks emerges after Barclays announced that group public policy director Mike Davis is retiring at the end of June after
32 years with the group (PRWeek, 3 March). The company is understood to be in advanced stages of recruiting for a successor.

'We have long-standing agencies in place – Weber Shandwick in the UK and APCO in the EU,' said Barclays UK public affairs director Wendy Deller. 'We've had informal discussions with some other agencies to check out what range of services exists. Over the next few months we will look at what we've learned.'

Deller joined the banking group last autumn, having run her own public affairs and CSR business, Policy Profile. She is an ex-government affairs director at drinks conglomerate Diageo.
