Sanofi-Aventis in brand comms hire

Sanofi-Aventis has lured Scott Fleming from Pope Woodhead to the role of UK brand comms manager.

Fleming will work on products including potential blockbuster anti-obesity drug Acomplia, plus diabetes brands Lantus and Apidra and injectable skin-filler Sculptra. 

He also has responsibilities in PA, working with external affairs manager Mark Lloyd-Davies, although he reports to head of brand comms Jeni Wilson.

Fleming spent nine years at Pope Woodhead. Explaining his move, he said: 'I want to broaden my skill base and experience life in-house at a top-tier pharma company.'

He added: 'Sanofi-Aventis has an enviable product pipeline with which we can do some great comms.'

UK comms director Cressida Ward has been busy building her team over the past few months. Other recent arrivals include brand comms manager David Keown, Lloyd-Davies and head of internal communications Stuart Lawton-Davies.

Pope Woodhead, which has 30 staff, has put senior consultant, business development, James Harper in Fleming's role on an interim basis. Harper said it was recruiting but that a 'restructure' of remits
was possible.
