Letter - ...and the ability to be useful from day one

Admirable as it is to turn out potential high-flying graduates who can 'sit alongside' professionals such as 'highly trained lawyers and management consultants', how many recruits start off doing this?

PR firms need recruits from day one to be able to interview, create and manage contacts, and deal with the press. They generally do not have the resources to spend weeks training for the day-to-day grind - which is what most new recruits start doing, and continue to do, for some time.
