Anti-piracy group shows journalists the 'front line'

The body set up to tackle DVD piracy is taking journalists on raids in a bid to generate coverage of the scale of the problem.

The Industry Trust for IP Awareness is using Leeds agency JDA PR to handle media relations for its latest campaign.

Research has shown that pubs and caf├ęs are hubs for DVD pirates, and the body is targeting licensees and customers via national, regional and trade press.

It wants journalists to 'experience the front line' in the fight against piracy by inviting them on operations in conjunction with Trading Standards officials and the Federation Against Copyright Theft. Film piracy is one of the world's fastest growing criminal enterprises: many films are available to buy in pubs before they have even
reached the cinema.

JDA has worked with the two-year-old Industry Trust for IP Awareness on previous anti-piracy campaigns.
