Godfrey's arrival at London's Soho Square marks his return to the agency, with which he worked for most of the 1990s.
He left H&K six years ago to spend 12 months working for medschool.com in Los Angeles – a venture that was, at the time, aiming to become the world's first online medical school. In 2001 the operation rebranded as Medsn and has since focused on rep training.
After positions at Ogilvy & Mather in New York and London, Godfrey has since worked as a freelance medical education adviser.
A former editor of GP magazine, Godfrey will work at H&K for around four days a week. He will continue to work as a GP in Lambeth, south London, for around one day a week.
Explaining his return to H&K, he said: 'Nick needed a right-hand man and approached me. I've known him for years.'
Godfrey will focus on working for H&K clients, such as Merck & Co, internationally, but new business is also part of his brief.
