Letter - Clifford's fabrication cannot be condoned

In response to Ben McCarthy (Letters, 17 February), I did not question Max Clifford's credentials in my own letter the previous week.

I wrote in to take exception at his willingness to 'fabricate' a story to protect a client, despite the wretched circumstances of the example.

I totally reject the notion that PR is just about getting the best result for a client. What if a client is wrong? By condoning the 'fabrication' of news, Ben is simply reinforcing the stereotype that PR is an industry based on bullshit, and that helps no-one.
