Paratus takes on lottery campaign

Lottery-funded grant provider the Big Lottery Fund (BLF) has taken on external PR support to promote the extension of its Awards for All programme.

From April its maximum grant will be doubled from £5,000 to £10,000 and deputy director of external communications Linda Quinn said it had decided to hire Paratus Communications to promote the new funding ceiling.

'Paratus will run regional media relations campaigns across the UK using previous beneficiaries as case studies and encouraging other groups to apply for Awards for All funding,' said Quinn.

The BLF, which has a total grant budget of around £700m a year, distributes lottery cash to causes ranging from multi-million pound regeneration schemes to grass roots community projects.

Its Awards for All initiative focuses on art, sport and heritage in local communities, funding projects such as Ty Pendre Memorial Gardens in Prestatyn, Wales, which received £4,800 in 2005.
