Marconi's Kanter quits after sale

Marconi V-P of government affairs Elizabeth Kanter is to quit following the sale of the bulk of its assets to Swedish firm Ericsson.

Kanter said there was no longer a PA job of a similar scope at the telecoms equipment company. She will step down at the end of February, and was due in any case to go on maternity leave in June.

She became the firm's top lobbyist two years ago, joining from Nortel Networks where she was head of UK government affairs. Prior to that she worked for a telecoms trade association in Washington DC. Kanter  now plans to act as a freelance PA consultant.

Marconi agreed to sell the bulk of its assets and its name last year for around £1.2bn.
