Cairns leaves PRCA to take up smoking

The PRCA's larger-than-life comms director Martin Cairns, Diary learns, sneaked out of the trade body for good just before Christmas.

Cairns, who for the past four years played a major role co-ordinating the PRCA's array of industry events, has secured a job lobbying for the tobacco industry. He is now public affairs manager for Philip Morris.

Cairns, not known for his resistance to the odd drag, lauded his move as an 'exciting challenge' when Diary called to congratulate him.

Back at the PRCA, the new comms chief is the equally amiable Amy Fairbairn, who arrives from the Home Office's marketing and strategic communications department. An auspicious career move given the opportunities that job can lead to...
