CORPORATE The Association of Mutual Insurers has recruited Rachel Griffiths as head of comms. Formerly PR division head at Poulter Partners in Leeds, she joins next week and will build a comms team of around five. Poulter has put account directors Sarah Giangregorio and James French in charge of its PR arm.

Yorkshire Water PR manager David Simister is leaving after eight years to set up his own agency. Yorkshire Water has orchestrated a number of media-friendly stunts during his time, including promoting 'diet tap water' and signing up model Nell McAndrew for celebrity photoshoots. Simister will open Different PR in Harrogate in March.

Fraser Butters has joined Pleon as European business development director. The former Burson-Marsteller and Spreckley Partners director has closed his own agency, Pervasive PR, working for which, he said, was 'not very exciting'.

The European Space Agency has brought in broadcast PR support as it builds its GPS-rivalling Galileo satellite network. World Television has won a three-year contract worth £340,000 to promote manned and unmanned flights to scientific and national broadcast press.

Brand entertainment agency Cake has hired Grey Global Group chief financial officer Robert Stitcher as its financial and commercial director. Stitcher sits on the board and reports to CEO Mike Mathieson.

Harrison Cowley director Ian Muir, who leads the 30-strong Bristol office, is leaving to go travelling. Executive directors Andy Martin, Georgina Jones and Katy Cosh will now run the office.

Big-mouths PR has been dissolved after co-founder Lisa Hulme left to start a family. Fellow co-founder Victoria McQuaid is to launch her own outfit, Chatterbox PR.
