Williams, who left Brunswick only five months ago to help with the video mobile phone network's flotation (PRWeek, 15 July 2005), will be given the new title of global head of executive communications. He takes up the post in March.
Reporting to director of corporate marketing and communications Simon Walker, Williams will advise Reuters CEO Tom Glocer, chairman Niall FitzGerald and editor-in-chief Geert Linnebank.
Williams has worked on Glocer's speeches before and previously acted as PR adviser to former US general and one-time presidential hopeful Wesley Clark.
In November Reuters announced a joint venture with Microsoft to launch a messaging system for traders, which Reuters hopes will give it the edge over its main rival, Bloomberg.
