Coles exits Square Mile for start-up

Weber Shandwick Square Mile has been hit by the departure of director John Coles.

He resigned in November and left at the end of December, after just one year with the firm.

He is believed to be setting up his own agency.  Coles was director at Bell Pottinger for ten years before leaving for Weber Shandwick at the end of 2004 (PRWeek, 2 December 2004). One of his significant accounts at WS Square Mile was aerospace company Cobham.

Separately, it has emerged that financial services and corporate account executive Azadeh Varzi is leaving WS Square Mile for Brunswick's oil and gas team.
