US pharma group swaps F-H with Media Strategy

The American Pharmaceutical Group, the body that champions US drug firms’ contribution to Britain’s healthcare system, has awarded Media Strategy its public affairs account.

The appointment marks the end of Fleishman-Hillard's 12-year handling of the brief.

A spokeswoman for the group, Lilly corporate affairs director Erin Huntingdon, said: '2006 will be an important year for the UK-based pharma industry with the publication of the Government's primary care white paper, which will change the way services can be provided closer to patient homes.'

Media Strategy takes over the running of the group's secretariat, and will provide political advice on the forging of links with policymakers.
According to APG, its member companies, which include Pfizer, Merck and Wyeth, spend more than £1.5bn a year on R&D, accounting for a quarter of all UK business R&D.

Media Strategy triumphed over F-H and APCO to clinch the six-figure account.
