Let's be clear about the standards issue

Laudable though much of 'A question of quality' (TNS Annual Report, 25 November) was, I couldn't help but feel it conflated two things: industry standard media evaluation and kitemarked PR standards.

The first is a question with which the PR industry has long wrestled.

Where there is no room for obfuscation, though, is in the suggestion that PR must develop and conform to standards across a much broader range of criteria than the narrow front of media evaluation. While it fails to do so, PR will continue to struggle for boardroom credibility.
