Time chief Gilpin makes MTV move

Time Magazine international comms director Emma Gilpin has quit to join MTV Networks International.

Gilpin will start work next week in a newly created role, thought likely to have the title of V-P, communications and press events.

She will oversee PR across all MTV's music channels, which include VH1 and TMF, in all markets outside the US.

The London-based role reports to senior V-P of marketing and communications Glenna Patton.

Gilpin was only promoted to her current role three months ago (PRWeek, 2 September). She left Time last week. She joined the Time and Fortune Group in 2001 and has previously worked, briefly, as head of corporate communications at Freud Communications.

MTV hired Firefly Communications two months ago on a European brief to make it more relevant to youth in the digital age.

Ex-director of press and comms (Europe) Polly Stevens left MTV in July to pursue a freelance PR career. She continues to work for MTV on a project basis.

Gilpin's role is more consumer focused and includes the Asian and Latin American markets.
