Diary: Bite's 'first' claim proves toothless

Claims to be the 'first ever' are often thrown around with whispered caveats - 'First ever... in Staines!', say.

But with its 'first ever speed mentoring event', tech agency Bite seems to have ridden roughshod over the concept by simply ignoring any predecessors.

In an (unreplied to) email to Bite head of B2B Paul Mackender, Jim Hawker of Threepipe Communications wondered if Bite, 'had missed the half page of coverage in PR Week, page in the FT, interviews on CNN, Five Live, Daily Express, Evening Standard and Business Link' generated by the original.

Threepipe was particularly miffed as if you type, 'speed mentoring' into Google UK, coverage of its event used to be the first result.

Mackender tells us he hadn't seen the email in question adding the mix up was simply 'an honest mistake'.
