Resolute snares bevy of account handlers

Resolute Communications this week unveiled a batch of hires to strengthen its account-handling ranks. The appointments take the agency’s headcount to 34 full-time staff after fewer than four years in business.

Suzanne Williamson has joined in an account director role, working on accounts including Shire Pharmaceuticals' blood disorder drug Xagrid. She was formerly at med ed firm Photosound Communications.

Two further staff with med ed pedigree have also joined Resolute, both in senior account manager roles: Marilyn Ewan has moved from Edelman's BioScience Communications arm, while Maria Gillespie joins from MediTech Media.

Ewan is working on Xagrid and Abbott Laboratories' HIV treatment Kaletra; Gillespie is working on brands including Shire's kidney drug Fosrenol.

Meanwhile, Tara Breen has joined in an account manager role. Breen spent almost four years at Hill & Knowlton, leaving earlier this year to become a Virgo Health PR senior account manager (PRWeek, 15 July) – she left Virgo after just six weeks, it has emerged.

At Resolute, Breen is working on Fosrenol and on the agency's global account for Roche cancer drug Avastin.

The hiring spree is completed by two further recruits: Anna Davies, formerly at Cohn & Wolfe, becomes an account executive; Heather Keohane has joined as a junior account exec, working for UCB Pharma's bladder drug Kentera and Janssen Pharmaceutica.
