How did Beattie get away with H-P stunt?

So Beattie Communications CEO Gordon Beattie 'beams' when telling his story of winning a piece of business from Hewlett-Packard six years ago by filling his (then two-strong) London office with actors to 'give the impression of a buzzing office' ('Caledonian spirit,' 28 October).

To win a pitch like that, presumably against consultancies offering genuine staff talent, is frankly disgraceful and if I were in charge of H-P's comms, and had later learned of such a subterfuge, I would have sacked Beattie.
