Action over African HIV in Birmingham

London agency 90TEN is to help tackle a rise in HIV infection rates among African people in Birmingham.

The agency is handling a media relations campaign targeting national African and HIV-related titles, plus regional press in the West Midlands, where nearly 500 new HIV cases have been diagnosed in the past year.

The agency has developed a website – Steps2health. – and 5,000 African music CDs, produced with local radio station GFM, will be handed out to Africans to promote the site.

The campaign is being funded by the NHS Heart of Birmingham Teaching Primary Care Trust.

*  90TEN has hired Olivia Jones from Media Strategy as an account director. Jones had worked at MS for almost six years. Also, Rob Dawson, formerly at Resolute Communications, has joined as account manager.
