The BBPA has invited 'those who are most sceptical or most critical' to a range of UK watering holes. The excursions will happen throughout 2006.
Hastings said: 'Not many opinion formers are in pubs or bars, or walk down their high street, at 10.30pm.
'Because they are not experiencing what it is like, they are taking their imagery from [negative news stories], believing that to be the pattern across the nation,' he added. 'When they [visit licensed premises] they realise that the myth of certain places being "no-go areas" is just that – a myth.'
The controversial new licensing laws came into effect on Thursday (24 November).
