Manchester agency Fido goes ‘carbon-neutral’

Manchester agency Fido PR is claiming to be the first agency outside London to go ‘carbon-neutral’.

With the help of The Carbon Neutral Company, Fido has calculated the amount of CO2 its business creates and is supporting projects to 'offset' the emissions. These include a forestry project in Droylsden, Greater Manchester, and the installation of home solar-powered lighting systems in India and Sri Lanka.

Fido has also implemented the Carbon Neutral Company scheme for one of its clients, Dorking-based property developer Cliveden Homes, which has pledged to make houses on its latest development 'carbon-neutral for the first two years'.

Fido joint MD Laura Sullivan said: 'As a business trading in reputation, we should lead the way and practise what we preach.'
The first carbon-neutral PR firm was London-based Synapse Communications in 2000.
