Grayling Political Strategy hires Jackson’s Wakelin

Grayling Political Strategy has hired Steve Wakelin, for five years the head of public affairs at The Jackson Consultancy.

He has joined the agency's 14-strong London operation as an account director, reporting to director Nicky Hughes.

Wakelin said he would provide public affairs counsel to clients in the financial services and transport sectors, and advise on CSR and regulatory issues. CEO Vivien Hepworth said: 'Steve's depth of experience, particularly in financial services, will enhance our offering.'

Jackson's clients in the sector have included Scottish Life and Zurich Financial Services.

Prior to Jackson, Wakelin worked in Burson-Marsteller's public affairs practice and for the Labour Party, at its former Millbank HQ and in parliament.

Earlier this year Grayling Political Strategy picked up a three-year PA and PR contract from the Postal Services Commission, which is preparing to open the £5bn letters market to full-blown competition (PRWeek, 8 July).
