MacLaurin resigned after claiming the demands of the role – as adviser to Desmond and his Northern & Shell firm – were distracting him from other clients (PRWeek, 17 June).
Northern & Shell group editorial director Paul Ashford said the firm had 'met a few people' to replace MacLaurin. But he added: 'We have evolved a practice where senior managers and editors talk to other media where necessary and enquiries are dealt with on an ad hoc basis.'
Ashford said outside help would be called in for product launches, and the group hoped to work with MacLaurin on projects in the future.
