Why Engelbert's not that easy to forget

Next May promises to be an exciting time for Engelbert Humperdinck. Not only will the classic crooner turn 70, he also celebrates 40 years in the music industry.

After so long in the business, Humperdinck knows better than to miss a PR trick. PRWeek can reveal he has briefed London-based music agency PPR Publicity to organise a celebrity golf tournament to mark the occasion, and launch his greatest hits double CD.

Ronan Keating and Tony Christie - another enduring singer, who topped the charts with (Is This The Way to) Amarillo? six months ago - are likely to attend.

And those of us who aren't sufficiently famous to get an invite won't miss out entirely, as PPR is seeking sponsorship, TV rights and a magazine deal.
