Need a dedicated PA body? Join the CIPR

I would like to point out to PubAffairs founder Phil Murphy ('PA practitioners call for dedicated body,' 4 November) that the CIPR's Government Affairs Group has more than 600 paying members.

It holds speaker meetings with politicians, journalists and diplomats, as well as a summer reception and an annual lunch in the Commons.

It has given evidence to the Committee on Standards in Public Life, and has responded to the Phillis Review. It has representatives of all three main political parties on its committee.

So Phil may not be involved in an exercise to reinvent the wheel, but he does seem to be trying to organise an intoxicating event in a brewery where one is already in full swing.

Lionel Zetter, vice-chairman, CIPR Government Affairs Group.
