Red opens office in San Francisco

The Red Consultancy is opening an office in San Francisco following its appointment as the global strategic agency for computer security firm McAfee.

The operation, sharing premises with sister Incepta agency Citigate Cunningham, will be led by newly appointed senior V-P and general manager Alice Chan.

She joins from Fleishman-Hillard, where she was senior V-P and partner of its West Coast operation.

Red's San Francisco team will focus on technology and corporate business with support on the consumer side from its New York office.

'Many agencies have found the US a tough market, but we are in for the long haul,' said Red chief executive Mike Morgan. In 2003 Red opened its first US office in New York (PRWeek, 2 December 2003).

McAfee is searching for a B2B agency in the UK. At least seven firms have pitched for the brief, and a shortlist will be decided by mid-November.
