Pringle nets fashion PRO amid global growth plans

Luxury clothing brand Pringle of Scotland has appointed former Aurelia board director Charlotte Thomas to communicate its plans for global growth.

She has joined in the new role of head of international marketing and PR.

In May, Pringle announced a £7m expansion of retail outlets in the UK and overseas.

Thomas oversees a team of ten in Pringle's international office, located above the Sloane Street store in London. Advertising also comes under her remit.

She said the company was 'in its second era of revitalisation', citing the appointment of creative director Clare Waight Keller. Previously working for Gucci head designer Tom Ford, Waight Keller now oversees fashion design and creative output at Pringle and will work closely with Thomas.

Pringle does not use a PR agency in the UK, but agencies are retained internationally, including Milan-based Franca Soncini. Pringle said it had no plans to take on agency support in the UK but was likely to appoint agencies overseas as it expanded internationally .

Thomas spent seven years at Aurelia, where she worked on premium brands including Krug Champagne, Jaguar and Tiffany & Co.

She previously handled PR for Bruce Oldfield.

Pringle celebrated its 190th anniversary at the end of September with a party in Milan. Thomas worked on the project on a part-time basis.

The company was acquired by Hong Kong-based textile and apparel firm Fang Brothers Knitting in 2000.
