Addaction calls in ex-Red Cross PRO

Addaction, the UK drug and alcohol treatment charity, has brought in Clare McNeil to the new post of press and policy officer as it seeks to boost government funding and raise concerns about the impact of new licensing laws.

McNeil's hire comes after Addaction's clients – individuals who need treatment for substance misuse, some as young as 13 – rose by 5,000 to 23,000 between 2004 and 2005.

She joins from the British Red Cross, where she was media and PR officer, and will develop Addaction's relationships with the media and government.
