Axon snares former B-M health chief Filshie

Jo Filshie, formerly healthcare head of Burson-Marsteller in Australia, has returned to the UK to take a director position at healthcare specialist Axon Communications.

Filshie will join Axon on 14 November, the move reuniting her with her former B-M boss Ralph Sutton.

Voted Communiqué's Young Achiever of the Year at the annual PM Magazine Awards in 2001, Filshie joins Richmond-based Axon to handle PR for prescription-drug clients.

Filshie was formerly head of healthcare at B-M in Australia, working in Sydney for three years.

She also previously worked for B-M in London with current Axon managing partner Sutton.

Prior to relocating to Sydney, Filshie held European and UK communications posts at pharma firm GlaxoSmithKline.

At Axon, Sutton has also lined up a 'senior' figure to advise clients on corporate communications.

The appointment will be unveiled 'shortly', he told PRWeek.

Other senior figures at Axon include director Clare Lucker (who handles consumer healthcare clients), and manager Ruth Slater (who works on medical education briefs and clinical research consulting).

Axon, set up two years ago, is the European office of Canadian firm National Public Relations.

The agency now has 13 staff. Current clients on its books include Novo Nordisk, Roche, Merck & Co, ALK Abello and Napp Pharmaceuticals.
