Slough trades on the Brent effect

After spending nearly a year cursing his name, the agency charged with rebuilding the image of the Slough Trading Estate has finally discovered the worth of the character that turned it into a byword for dull, urban, industrial space.

According to FD Tamesis consultant Chris Bown, the agency 'has come to love David Brent', as media exposure of 'The Office connection' has turned from derision to nostalgia.

'We recently relaunched the estate and got coverage in everything from the Financial Times to Radio 5 Live,' says Bown.

'It would have been difficult to generate that sort of awareness without the work of David Brent,' he confesses.

As the great man once said: 'Eagles may soar high, but weasels don't get caught in jet engines.'
