Let's do lunch: The Crazy Bear

For somewhere different to dine, there is nowhere better than The Crazy Bear in the village of Stadhampton, outside Oxford. Easy to get to from Junction 7 of the M40, it's a perfect half-way point to meet clients from the Midlands - with unbeatable food and a great atmosphere.

The interior adds contemporary styling to the traditional country pub, but with some unexpected touches. For example, it was one of the first places to serve champagne on tap.

The Crazy Bear has two diverse restaurants, so there's a menu to suit whoever you're meeting. The English restaurant offers a wealth of hearty and comforting dishes, but I usually opt for the extensive Thai menu.

The mixed starters are exceptional - chicken satay, crunchy sesame prawn toast, steamed dumplings, spring rolls and wonderful dipping sauces are the perfect prelude to a delicious selection of mains.

If you prefer something more informal, the bar serves a great range of snacks. The wine list is wide-ranging and there's usually a good bottle available at around £15.

The best thing about The Crazy Bear is the impeccable service, unobtrusive but attentive. For a meeting in a convenient location, you'd be hard pressed to beat it.
