Cuff to head LGIU local policy drive

The Local Government Information Unit (LGIU) has hired Nick Cuff to the new role of press and parliamentary campaigns officer as it seeks to demonstrate that much of government policy is best delivered locally.

Cuff joins from Cicero Consulting, where he has been an account manager for over two years.

He said his aim was to spearhead a campaign called 'perilous democracy' to boost interest in politics through local issues. He added that he would work on campaigns to improve 'community cohesion'.

'A lot of aspirations from Whitehall can only be delivered at a local level,' Cuff said. 'Local government is a battleground of policy ideas at the moment.'
