The review follows Aviva's creation of its NU General Insurance (NUGI) business unit, set up to incorporate the insurance arm of recently acquired RAC. The review also coincides with a review of NUGI's media planning and buying account.
NU has used QBO Bell Pottinger and its forerunner The Quentin Bell Organisation to handle consumer PR for 15 years. QBO has also pitched but as part of a Chime group team bolstered by Good Relations and Bell Pottinger C&F staffers.
Sources suggest more than one agency may end up bagging work.
It is the second time this year that NU has called in consumer agencies for a pitch. In April, four shops battled it out, with Borkowski PR emerging triumphant. Borkowski said it was unaffected by the current review.
